Dr. Keri Johns talks with Denver Channel 7 about Virtual Reality Therapy for Fear of Flying!
Denver Channel 7 News interviewed CBTDenver's psychologist, Dr. Keri Johns, about why alcohol is not a great coping strategy for flight anxiety and an innovative therapy for people who want to learn healthier coping strategies for air travel.
While the COVID pandemic is not over yet, people are starting to travel again. Fear of flying is a common phobia for which many people use alcohol as a coping strategy. The strategy generally backfires in the long-term as it leads people to become dependent on drugs to manage their anxiety rather than learn coping strategies. However, as alcohol is no longer being served on most major airlines, people are feeling more anxious and unsure of how to cope without those in-flight drinks.
